Apple Live Photos API

Apple defined Apple Live Photos API as,

Live Photos allows you to relive your favorite memories with movement and sound.
Take advantage of the new Live Photos API and let users enjoy these moments in your web app.

Phil Schiller announced the new iPhone camera tricks, but he talked mostly about the Apple’s new app API that turns your sweet memories into the little short video and automatic GIFs.

Every picture that a person takes with iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, is by default also a Live Photo.

According to the official documentation:

The JavaScript API presents the player in the form of a DOM element, much like an image
or video tag, which can configured with photo and video resources and other options,
and have its playback controlled either pro grammatically by the consuming developer, or
via pre-provided controls by the browsing end-user.

This will be supported to all iPhone products being used as wallpaper on iPhone and Apple watch. It is not a new idea but the Apple took this far away beyond talks.

Google has already made its Motion Stills named software the will the same thing. But it’s awkward and contradictory but also a great counter to Live Photo.

The new iPhones are coming with 12MP camera and the Apple Live Photo api will take up little more space than normal, and you going to fill your memory faster.

Apple’s developer made this milestone for building apps for iOS, macOS and tvOS. It is also compatible for the web developer, that they can put a Live Photos player on the web. Apple has a JavaScript based Apple Live Photo API called LivePhotosKit.
